“Hi. My name is Katee Nelson and I am a 24 y/o registered nurse is Manhattan, Kansas. I was born with aortic stenosis and have had two previous open heart surgeries. I need to have another open heart surgery and due to insurance issues I am being forced to have my surgery done in New York City at New York Presbyterian Columbia in order to have my surgery covered by my insurance. My family and I are facing the burden of traveling a long distance to New York from Kansas and finding somewhere to stay that is cost effective. I was referred to you by a friend that saw a special on lifetime about you and showed me your page of Facebook. I am not sure when I will be having surgery as we are still dealing with insurance to get it all worked out.
