2025 Family Campaign: Celebrating & Supporting Families
Mother's Day Marks The Start of our Family Campaign
Today, as we celebrate the love, strength, and sacrifices of mothers everywhere, we’re proud to launch our Family Campaign — a heartfelt initiative dedicated to supporting families in need throughout our community.
What better way to honor the mother figures in your life than by making a gift in their name? Your donation will help provide essential resources, support services, and hope to families who need it most.
Together, we can give hope to hearts everywhere — one gift at a time.
A Mom at Her Son's Bedside Daily
Aidan was born in February and immediately transferred to NYU Langone Health for acute medical care. Nadia and Steven, Aidan's parents, were able to take one look at him before he left - tiny, far away, and surrounded by machines. These were not the first moments Nadia dreamed of as a new mother.
Aidan was diagnosed with Dextro-Transposition of the Great Arteries (dTGA), a critical congenital heart defect that went undetected during Nadia's pregnancy. Nadia and Steven finally got to touch Aidan when he was two days old, and stayed at his bedside until he received his surgery thirteen days later.
Nadia recalls that it was scary after Aidan's surgery, as he was sedated and connected to many machines. They could not be near Aidan to comfort him until a few days later, which was extremely difficult. During this time, Nadia and Steven were concerned about how they were going to pay their rent and purchase groceries as new parents with growing medical bills.
Through our Emergency Fund, Harboring Hearts was able to able to help Nadia and Steven with one month of rent as well as grocery assistance so they could focus on Aidan and his recovery. Aidan, Nadia, and Steven went home after thirty-six days in the hospital. Nadia says, "He is the strongest little soul I’ve ever known—and through it all, he taught us what real courage looks like."
Today, Aidan is doing well and growing every day. Nadia and Steven are staying positive that he will overcome anything!
